The New Moon basically means that the Moon is anywhere from 0-45 degrees directly ahead of the Sun. Projects get off to an empowering start when they're begun under the New Moon.
New Moon workings can be done from the day of, to 3 1/2 days after. I always try to get to a spell the day of the New Moon to pack an extra witchie-woman wallop! You are likely to see results either by the Full Moon or the next New Moon. Anything that involves self-improvement, farming, love, romance, or networking seems to reap big results under the New Moon. Personally, I've experienced great success when I get my hair cut during the New Moon (of course, I consider what astrological sign the Moon is in). My hair will grow really fast and have more oomph.
Some folks get a bit uncomfortable talking about spells, while others just think the whole subject is pretty hokey. I want you to know that I really do respect The Craft, I'm not poking fun at this stuff. It does actually work. As far as all the formalities go....well, it turned me off from spell-casting for a long time. All that stuff about sacred circles, consecrating this and that, dressing candles, etc.... just seems unnecessary and like, well...work. Again no disrespect to Wiccans or any other faith for that matter, but it all seems kinda pretentious to me. It's like a Catholic cathedral with all kinds of pretty stained-glass windows, stunningly beautiful, but God would love you just the same amount in your own bedroom at home.
I've been to Pagan events where all the ceremonial stuff really moved me, because of all the teamwork and love involved. Although, if I'm at my kitchen counter, I'm not going to make a big production about it. Spells are basically about voicing your intentions to the Universe. And this spell, my dear reader, is about drawing love into your life.
Before I go any further, I must warn you. To try to alter a person's free will is a serious karmic offense. To try to break up a couple, just so you can worm your way in...well, that's just bad mojo and shame on you! The Universe doesn't suffer fools, so if your intentions aren't good, read no further.
That being said, there comes a time in everyone's life when they feel a bit lonely and unloved. This lil' gem of a spell will have you feeling all warm and fuzzy in no time at all. Perform it during a New Moon, but never while it is void of course.
Begin by working at your altar, your night stand, or your kitchen counter. Whatever floats your boat. I'm sure there's a tradition-obsessed witch out there with her face screwed up like she just smelled a turd saying, "Well I never! You MUST have an altar! You MUST cleanse and cast the circle! You MUST greet the Lord and Lady !" Fiddlesticks! All spells are ceremonies one does to kick their visualization into over-drive. They give you a sense of security, knowing that you at least did SOMETHING to help a situation along. Why, I bet you could read this spell, visualize every single step in vivid detail and still manifest the same results that you would if you went through the trouble of actually doing it. At last, I digress....
When I'm about to "get my spell on" I holla at my guardian angel, Gloria to come along for the ride. We used to be closer when I was a wee lass. I'm going to try to kick it more with Gloria. I read somewhere a long time ago that angels can't help you unless you ASK them first. So ask already! Some folks prefer to have what they call an invocation where they say a bunch of stuff that rhymes and lightening shoots out of angry clouds outside and thunder booms from a distance. Me? I just do something like this...."Hey, Gloria, it's me, Tonyana! What's up with ya?"
Warm feelings throughout my body.
"Ummm...yeah, well I was having a problem "and I thought that maybe we could work together on it....you game?"

"Sweet! Well. Let's get crackin'!"
If you don't know your guardian angel's name (most people don't) maybe just ask for it in meditation. You could also tell yourself to reveal it in your dreams tonight, or maybe just refer to them as Angel and leave it at that. Be honest and direct in what you're attempting to do, and remember to harm none.
Ahhhh Love.....
Get two small, pink candles and etch the word "LOVE" in them. Write down on an index card (or something equally suitable) what specifically you want. I prefer not to mention specific names. You could say you want a companion, or a lover, or maybe just a cuddly pet to nuzzle you awake in the mornings. Cut a red heart out of construction paper. Burn the candles for about five minutes, or so. You want the index card in the middle face-up with the red heart on top of it. Move the candles just a little bit closer together so that they are practically on the card, then snuff them out. Do this same procedure for two more days, moving the candles closer together, until on the third day they're touching each other on top of the card and heart. Let the candles burn themselves out. Sleep with the card and heart underneath your pillow for a night. Before you go to bed, make sure you tell the Universe and your angel, "Thanks!".
If this is all too hocus-pocus for you, know that spells really aren't that necessary either. You could just as easily get the same results by burning a nubby candle in a color that reminds you of love, etching the word LOVE in it, laying back and visualizing what you really want for 10 minutes a night, until the candle burns out. It's all in what you believe, really. MAKE IT HAPPEN!

The extended period of cleansing in the UK continues with more rain and flooding.
Weather in Europe is currently very odd, with some parts suffering extremely low temperatures and other areas recording record high temperatures. Officials say the icy conditions in Eastern Europe are probably the most severe of the last 70 years, where temperatures have been about 12 degrees C lower than the seasonal norm. In the last two weeks alone 123 people have died from the cold in Russia, 88 in Ukraine and 67 in Poland.
By the time Winter Storm Euclid leaves the east coast on Friday, it will have deposited snow from California's Sierra to New England. Euclid has also created blizzards, heavy winds and rain, and icy conditions that has caused traffic accidents.
Tornadoes, heavy winds and thunderstorms hit the Deep South on December 25th. The storms were blamed for three deaths, several injuries, and left homes from Louisiana to Alabama damaged. Thirty-four tornadoes were reported in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
Tropical Storm Quinta/Wukong hit the Philippines, causing heavy rains and landslides. One person was reported missing as a result of the storm.

Why Jesus was Not a Jew

In the first place, Jesus was not a Jew. He was a Hebrew, yes, but
not a Jew. It is a common misconception that is actually fostered
by the Jews, themselves.
The historical facts are these: the Hebrews were the Semitic
-language ETHNIC group of people who lived in the highlands of
Palestine. As an ethnic group of Semitic people, they had a belief
system that was divided into various sects. Just as modern day
Muslims can all be called Muslims even though they have divided
themselves into two main SECTS called Sunnis and Shiites; and just
as modern day Christians can all be called Christians even though
they have divided themselves into various SECTS called Catholics,
Protestants, Methodists, Presbeterians, etc.; so too were the
ancient Hebrews all called Hebrews even though they had divided
themselve into several SECTS which they called Pharisees,
Sadducees, Scribes, Essenes, etc. They were all Hebrews but they
were not all Pharisees. They were all Hebrews but they were not
all Sadducees. They were all Hebrews but they were not all
Scribes.
So, once you understand that the Hebrews as a people all generally
followed a certain belief system even though they were also
divided into several SECTS, then you can understand why Jesus was
not a Jew even though he was, indeed, a Hebrew.
Among the Hebrews, the Sadducees followed the teachings of the
Torah (the Old Testament) and were generally part of the rich and
"politically correct" social climbers of their times, being close
to the king and the ruling elite who liked riches and admired
Roman culture.
While the Torah was generally accepted by the Pharisees, they also
followed some extra-curricular beliefs that were invented by their
rabbis and which were known as "The Tradition of the Elders".
These teachings were mainly various methods of evading the
Commandments and for making the rabbis into mouthpieces for God.
These Traditions were considered by the Pharisees to be of a
higher order than the teachings of the Torah, even though they
were basically rules for overturning all of the Laws of God that
they had learned from Moses. "The Tradition of the Elders" was an
oral teaching that only the Pharisees followed and passed on to
their sons.
So, when Jesus arrived on the scene, He had a special condemnation
for the Pharisees whom he called, "liars, deceivers, hypocrites,
murderers and the very children of their father, the Devil." While
Jesus had plenty to say against the Sadducees who put their
service to God second to their service to making money and
enjoying wealthy pastimes, it was the Pharisees upon whom Jesus
heaped the hottest coals for their falsifications and rejection of
the teachings of the Torah.
So can you see that although Jesus taught all of the Hebrews -- of
which He was one of them -- he condemned what the Sadducee SECT
and the Pharisee SECT and the Scribal SECT were teaching and
corrupting. Thus, Jesus was a Hebrew but he was not a Sadducee or
a Pharisee or a Scribe. The Hebrew faith encompassed all of these
SECTS. And Jesus taught all of them although he was not a member
of any of these SECTS. Why would Jesus be a member of a small sect
when His Message was for all of the Hebrews and not just some of
them?
Once you understand this, then the next step is to ask, "Then what
are the Jews?"
The history plays out this way: After Jesus was crucified by the
Pharisees and some of the Saducees (who had bribed and blackmailed
Pontius Pilot), these SECTS prospered under Roman rule for another
70 years. But their intrigues against Rome and open rebellions and
murders of Roman citizens and soldiers finally forced Rome to act.
As punishment for the Hebrews of Judea, Rome attacked Jerusalem
and plundered the city in 70 AD and prohibited any Hebrews from
ever again setting foot inside that city. All Hebrews in the city
were either put to the sword or enslaved in the mines and Roman
galleys. And all Hebrews in all of Palestine were ordered to leave
and never come back. And from that time the Hebrews began to fan
our across the Middle East and Europe in what they call the
Diaspora.
With their spiritual center of Jerusalem destroyed, what Hebrews
who were able to escape and those who were not in the city itself,
ran off to the surrounding regions to regroup. Of course, they
asked themselves why God had punished them so much. The Sadducees,
being believers in the Torah, concluded that in fact they had
mistakenly crucified the Messiah. And so, the Sadducees converted
to Christianity and disappeared from history as a SECT of
Hebrewism.
But the Pharisees, being obstinate of heart and corrupt in virtue,
and not believing in the clear signs of the Torah as to who the
Messiah would be, thought of themselves as superior to the
teachings of the Torah. So, these rabbis concluded that they had
been destroyed by Rome as a test of their faith in their
understanding of the "Tradition of the Elders". This Tradition was
an ORAL teaching of the rabbis and which they had elevated to
holiness by a belief that these had been secret teachings given
orally to Moses, whispered into Moses' ear by God, Himself, and
thus superior to the written teachings in the Torah.
And so, these Pharisees regrouped and continued the teachings that
had been condemned by Jesus as the works of the devil. And since
the Saduceees had been converted to Christianity, and the Essenes
had been destroyed by the Roman legions, the Pharisees found
themselves as the sole inheritors of the Hebrew belief system. And
as the sole inheritors of the Torah and the oral Tradition of the
Elders, they assumed leadership of all of the remaining Hebrews
who followed the teachings of Moses and not the teaching of Jesus.
These Pharisees wandered across the eastern Mediterranean and
Mesopotamia in search of a place to live, since they were
forbidden to return to Jerusalem or the country of Judah. And so,
they were often asked by the native people, "Who are you and where
do you come from?" They did not say that they were Pharisees or
Jerusalemites who were condemned by both Christians and Romans.
They said that they were from the land of Judea. And they became
known as Judeans or, using a shorter pronunciation, Jews.
And so, you can now see that Jesus was not a Jew. And that the
Jews of today are the very SECT whom Jesus condemned the most. And
this is why the Jews hate Jesus and Christianity to this very day
because they are the very ones whom Jesus called, "liars,
deceivers, hypocrites, murderers and the very children of the
devil". The Jews of today are the Pharisees without change,
teachings the same evils and vices as they did from those ancient
times.
And this is why the Jews hate and slander the Ku Klux Klan because
the Klansmen believe what Jesus said about the Jews.
When someone says, "Oh look!" and points to the moon, people
naturally look at the moon and not at he who points. The Jews are
experts at pointing their fingers at others to avoid being seen as
they are.
That the Jews were the primary slave traders all throughout
European history up to and including the American Civil War, is
something that they hide behind their hypocritical masquerade of
being the "friends of black people against white oppression". And
so, today, in Jewish media you will find that the Jews point their
fingers at the KKK for being "anti-Negro". But in their lies and
hypocrisy, they are actually trying to cover up the fact that they
were the one's who sold the black slaves to the white Americans
in the days when slavery was still legal. And they want to blame
others for their own sins while hiding the fact that it was white
Christians who freed the slaves, fighting a Civil War that cost a
million white people their lives for the sake of freeing the
Negros. And they oppose the Klan because the Klan believes what
Jesus said about the Jews.
That the Jews were the monopoly owners of the slave trade
throughout Europe, the Mediterranean and North Africa since
pre-Roman times up to and including the slave trade of both North
and South American, they hide behind their crocodile tears and
their hypocritical grins while they lie and say that today they
are the "fellow minority brothers" of the very people whom they
enslaved, tortured and oppressed and say they are adamantly
opposed to the "white man's oppression of their fellow minority
people" -- this in the face of the facts that it was white
Christians who ended slavery after it had been in this world since
civilization began 12,000 years ago!
That the Jews were the sole propriators of the Opium Monopoly that
ravaged China and destroyed the lives and fortunes of tens of
millions of Chinese, they cover up with the lie that it was the
British who spread opium into China and not Jews and only Jews
working under British passport. And then to protect the Opium
Monopoly of their fellow Jews in India and China, the Jews of
England forced the English government into two Opium Wars against
China.
That the Jews were the originators, inventors, promoters,
financial backers and profiteers in the Bolshevik Revolution in

I was living in Alaska with two YOUNG children when I first heard of Harry Potter. A friend of mine, knowing how much I enjoyed reading, suggested it as a great "escape" from the grinds of motherhood. So I picked it up... and I loved it! I could not believe how quickly I escaped into Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, and Privet Drive. J.K Rowling is amazing! As much as I loved it, and went straight to the second, I do NOT recommend it for children of all ages!Like so many other juvenile fiction novels, our hero deals with "heavy" more mature issues. For example, Harry's parents are killed by an evil wizard whom Harry has to try and defeat...kill, really, and Harry's guardians do not love him and treat him like a servant rather than a son. Overall, things to be aware of include: our hero and his friends breaking lots of rules; some tense moments in the book where as an adult, I was a bit scared; and a gruesome ending which leaves the reader with icky mental images and a very bad "bad guy". Harry Potter is a great read for kids especially as they move past the simple chapter books and are looking to find a story with more complex characters. However, hold off starting the series until you are ready for your kids to jump into all seven books. It is not easy to read the first and second books, which are mild fun reads, and then have to stop reading the series for a few years, because the books get darker.A couple of additional recommendations: First, in our house, you have to read the book before you see the movie. This goes with all the Harry Potters. When you jump right into the movies, you end up missing so much from the books and really it is a shame. Second, try listening to Harry Potter on audiobook. Jim Dale is the reader and he is absolutely amazing! All of my kids would prefer listening to him read the book than watch the movie ANY DAY. He brings the book to life in so many ways and brings you right in. It is time well spent. Happy Reading~Liz

So... living in the Bible belt of America I have heard many different reactions to Harry Potter, even going so far as to be told I was a heathen for ruining my son by sending him to school with a Harry Potter backpack. That much being said, I LOVE THIS SERIES! I have read and listened to this book many times, and I enjoy it every time. It's a book about a boy faced with a choice between good and evil... and he chooses good. He's not perfect, but he does genuinely try to do what is right. He cares more about helping others than saving himself.
Those who have concerns with the fact that there is "sorcery" in the series, need only to realize that this book is no different from Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Bewitched, and many other books out there. The author doesn't "promote" dark magic, make it cool to do bad things, or encourage the reader to run out and try witchcraft. It's just a fun story with a good message.
The best thing that came from reading Harry Potter is that it made me cool to my kids and other people's kids. I was even hip enough to go to the midnight movie premiers with my teenagers. The thing that bothered me on first reading was the character that drinks unicorn blood (even though it is silver) which was a bit much for me.
