Weve all seen them at one point or the other: that strange deck of cards with creepy illustrations used by a psychic in a movie to dramatically reveal the horrors awaiting a scared customer or believer. Some of us may have even bought a deck at some point just out of curiosity. But even though weve seen them on television and in movies, many people do not know exactly what tarot cards are. This article explains tarot cards and how a psychic uses them in their trade to tell the future or to close the pass.Divination, or the art of foretelling future events, has been practiced by mankind for thousands of years. Practitioners have used a number of methodologies to obtain psychic readings from the divine, both communicating with and receiving guidance from whatever gods held sway at the time. Psychics who perform divination know that the communications received more often than not stem from the psychic's own intuitive nature, and that the methods used for divination are merely tools that allow the accessing of this insight. Crystals have been an essential part of divination since the time of the Egyptians, and have been used by psychics in many ways. One well known use of crystals to obtain information about the future is crystallomancy, or the art of the crystal ball.
With practice and proper psychic attunement, the images within the crystal will progress from blurry shapes to recognizable forms. Beginning psychics often see highly symbolic images during early psychic readings, but with time and practice these images will begin to be replaced with more literal visions of the future. For symbolic images, the psychic must rely on applying their current understanding of known information to the crystal ball's revelations.
Once that is completed, the psychic must prepare the casting area, most often defined within the parameters of a silken cloth used only for the purpose of divination. Cleansing the casting area is necessary as well, and is most often accomplished by the act of "smudging", which involves imbuing the area with smoke from herbs or incense. The psychic will intuitively know when the area is completely cleaned, as his or her intuition will read the energies of the area.
Some psychics do tell peoples fortunes, often combined with astrology. A psychic may also use items called Tarot cards to determine ones future or ones personality traits and how they impact their lives. Palmistry " or palm-reading " can reveal certain notions of the future as well as delve into someones character and persona. And of course, there is still the traditional crystal ball method " one that is still a cultural icon of the psychic trade today but one that you wont seen used as much today!
