Before the rose gets the least cool, clap it in a sheet of writing paper, on which is written your own name and that of the man you love best; also the date of the morning star that has the ascendency at that time.

Fold it up and seal it neatly with three separate seals, then run and bury the parcel at the foot of the bush from which you gathered the flower.

Here let it remain untouched till the 6th of July. Take it up at midnight. Go to bed and place it under your pillow, and you will have a singular and eventful dream before morning, or, at least, before your usual time of rising. You may keep the rose under your head three nights without spoiling the charm. When you have done with the rose and paper be sure to burn them.

Liza Lou And The Yeller Belly Swamp

This book absolutely haunted me up until a few years ago. Once on a family visit to Nantucket when I was a girl, I spotted this book in a bookstore and had been enchanted by it. I only read it once, and we didn't buy it, and I never saw it again, but the story stayed with me. More than ten years ago now, I Dogpiled (ha! remember those days before Google!?!) the words swamp/little girl/swamp monster/book and was reunited with the pictures that had so long ago influenced me.

It was funny, too, that it would be by Mercer Mayer since I probably had every "Little Critter" book known to man at the time.

Yeller belly cottonmouth,

Possum up a tree,

You can catch the swamp fever

But you can't catch me.

I suppose being from the south and actually living nearby to real swamps made this book come alive all the more... the evil ghost of a Confederate soldier, the swamp witch, cotton mouths, and how the brilliant little girl outsmarts them all. She even sticks it to the devil himself!

I guess since I had my own swamp monsters of the imagination, it was gratifying to see a female kicking butt on the creepy crawlies of the dark. I have to give this book 80 thumbs up... plus my son gets a huge kick out of it which is all the more awesome.

We have reached the point where our herb operations and our Vodoun/Botanica activities BOTH need more room to expand, and with the Grail Art Gallery swallowing up all the great artwork that we have never had room to display at the Cat & Cauldron, now is the time to get the Witchcraft Shop into the High Street.10 Benedict Street will remain very much part of the organization, but will be run exclusively as a Botanica and Occult Consultation space. We will leave the boys to it and keep you informed of progress! Herbal supplies and ALL Witchcraft and general pagan items will come up to the Cat & Cauldron in the Market Place, which will greatly simplify our order processing as everything will again be in one place. A few of the more fantasy ranges will end up in The Magick Box - dragons for example, as we make sure there is as little as possible duplication between the shops.All Artwork is now being placed in the Gallery where it will be much better displayed. My office will probably go up there too, which will mean I can be there to open it a couple of days a week and get on with things while I am there. The most obvious visible change will be that the herb counter that has been the workhorse in Benedict Street will now take pride of place in the Cat & Cauldron, and we will begin to use it to prepare herbs and incenses, as well as candles and all other Witchcraft Supplies.The boys are keen to get decorating - so this is happening as I'm writing! General Systems Approach To Ufology

I think the new approach to ufology analysis should be to not use names and labels but to substitute names and labels with generics/classes to produce a bigger picture [e.g. switch nouns verbs and adjectives]

hence the general systems theory of ufology.

this will probably convert ufology into a study of the metaphysics of desolation
